MBF Filmtechnik was founded in 1982 by five partners in order to fill a niche in the local film business: equipment was usually rented from Munich or Berlin - and then more often than not in bad quality. The opening salvo were 20 lights, which were bought directly from manufacturers all over Europe. This started the trend to be in close contact with quality equipment companies - a trend that continues today.
Rising demand for regionally available equipment was the motor of continuing growth. Soon, dollies and cranes were added to the inventory. Successful productions of music videos and commercials resulted in further expansion of the rental stock and soon cameras - both film and video - were added to the list.
In 1997 we moved to today's location, which houses the complete palette of film equipment on 2500 sqm. Besides sales and rentals of equipment we also offer expendables.
Supported by homegrown software we have valued customer service from the very beginning. Personal contact and individual consulting as well as cooperation with both users and manufacturers of equipment have proven to be a winning formula. In the development of new technologies we see ourselves as an important link. And in our own shop we can initiate new ideas and custom articles. A further exchange of ideas happens during employee seminars and open houses with DPs and assistants.
Our Hamburg branch was started in 1998 because of growing demand from our clients. Since 2006 the branch is its own company. While 7 employees and 2 apprentices work in Hamburg, the stock of personnel in Frankfurt has now grown to 12 employees, 2 apprentices and 4 interns.
