Lichter Filmtage Advancement Prize
LICHTER, Filmtage Frankfurt

"DAS FESTIVAL IM WIR UND JETZT" (roughly translated as "The festival in the we're and now") was the motto of the LICHTER Filmtage Frankfurt.
World cinema, the portrayal of the world and the world in miniature has always been shaped by its environment - the people that make cinema and the places that it captures. That's why the time had come to establish a festival in Frankfurt that presents the film creations from the Rhine-Main region with all their facets, creates a stage for small and large productions and brings the makers and the audience together.
Lichter Filmtage. A SUCCESS!

The prize was awarded on Sunday evening: The jury, made up of the filmmaker Birgit Lehmann, the cameraman Kormi and Sebastian Popp, head of the industrial gathering EDIT, awarded a prize to each of the long and short film categories. The Filmtage advancement prize of Euro 3,300 made up of equipment and cash for the best short film went to the animated film "Der Jäger und der Bär" by Joachim Brandenberg, a diploma project at the Fachhochschule Wiesbaden. The justification by the jury was: "The story of a bear hunt invites you to philosophise about life. The animated film convinced the jury with its extraordinary aesthetics, its wonderful figures and the meditative music."

The jury selected the production "Video Kings" by Ali Eckert and Daniel Acht as the MBF advancement prize winner for the best long film. Both directors from the region filmed the movie in Berlin using a team from Rhine-Main and with no budget at all, and brought the film to the cinema independently. "Video Kings is a barefaced small film, in which the pleasure in the making - actors and team - can be seen in every minute. Using a lot of imagination and plenty of good ideas, it tells the old story of two mates caught between life's dreams and daily insanity" the jury determined.
